i get to sit & chat with her one night. yup :) and i got curious with this book *well like always* it's a bible in kadazan language :D haha grandmama said yes i have that accent :) it never fades. i'm born as one :) hehe. so i read with her :D some of the words like "ngaavi","iso" or "ka", i know. the rest have to be translated my grandmama :)
eventually after reading some versus :) she talked about when the times when she was younger. as far as the Japanese invasion in Sabah.
read about the 2nd world was :)
anyways her story goes like this. as she recall, she and her sister, who is my popo, my dad's mum :D:D. they were going home from school every afternoon :) raced! haha she laughed :) she was young that time. like so free bird :) she and my popo would race back home. during the Japanese invasion, there were bombs being thrown everywhere. all my grandmamas could do was hide inside their shelter. They had tough times they said. then she said something in kadazan. with the expression which i always tend to say also.. oooiii gia. :) that one hehe. it's not rude just an expression of saying.. "sigh.. so susah.. or kesian at something". she told me about their father actually threaten by the japanese soldiers. i can hear them speak japanese.. non des ka. hai! :D anyways. her family were ask to provide rations for these japanese soldiers. so every single day in that 2 years! -.- i know right 2 freaking years man :(. they were asked to do so as great-grandpa pleaded for mercy . as the family has 8 children ^^ so my grandmama and popo worked everyday in the fields plating paddy, ubi, papayas, and other kinds of vegetables and fruits. :( these went for all the soldiers. they had little to eat :( gosh. i'm grateful life is better now.
anyways. my grandmama also told me that the catholic priests who were in charge in their kampung kompipinan Papar :) was killed by these soldiers. well it's a threat towards the british -.- in a way of harshly asking that Sabah will become their territory.
when you think about it THAT's SCARY MAN -.- really
and taking the fact that my grandmama and popo actually experienced that : WOW!
:) hehe
